Man guilty of Qld ice dealer's murder

A man has been found guilty of murdering and torturing an ice dealer, whose burnt remains were found in a forest in southeast Queensland.

A Brisbane Supreme Court jury took just over two days to find William Francis Dean guilty of the murder of Shaun Barker in late 2013.

He was also found guilty of torturing Mr Barker and interfering with his corpse.

The jury failed to reach a verdict on the murder charge against Dean's co-accused, Stephen John Armitage and his son Matthew Leslie Armitage, though the pair were each found guilty of torture and interfering with a corpse.

During the trial, the court had heard Mr Barker was beaten, kept inside a large cooler and eventually killed by Dean.

The 33-year-old was also tied to a tree with honey smeared on his genitals to attract ants, and may have had fingers cut off as he was tortured for information, the court heard.

His charred remains were found in a forest near Gympie four months later.

The three men will be sentenced at a date to be fixed.
