Thief fails and falls while stealing empty cash tray from Logan servo

Police are hunting for a man who armed himself with a baseball bat and stole an empty cash tray from a Logan service station.

A man and woman drove an old silver sedan to the servo on Johnson Road in Forestdale about 2am today, before the man broke in.

He cracked the station’s door with a besser brick and then kicked it in, before retrieving a baseball bat from the car, police said.

The man then went inside and demanded money from a 27-year-old male worker, who retreated and locked himself in a back room.

The man then took a cash tray from the register and fled.

He fell over while on his way out, slipping on the floor.

Police have confirmed the tray was empty.

The man and woman were last seen heading west on Johnson Road towards Carole Park.

No one was injured.
