Man dies after three-car smash in Qld

A 58-year-old man is dead and four women are in hospital after a multi-car smash on Queensland's Scenic Rim.

Three cars were involved in the crash on Ipswich Boonah Road, near Peaks Crossing, about 7.30am on Friday.

The male driver of one of the cars, a 58-year-old from Croftby, died at the scene.

Police said the car collided with the two others that were travelling on the other side of the road.

Four women were taken to Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital - three with serious injuries and one with minor injuries.

All were in a stable condition on Friday afternoon.

The road was closed for several hours as the forensic crash unit launched an investigation, but it has since reopened.
