Man dies after car hits tree in country Queensland

A man has died after his car crashed into a tree in the Queensland town of Corella near Gympie.

Police say the 58-year-old man's station wagon was travelling northbound along Old Maryborough Road at about 1pm on Sunday when he attempted to overtake another vehicle.

His car collided with the side of the vehicle before leaving the road and crashing into a tree.

He died at the scene.
