Man back in Qld court over murder attempt

A man accused of setting a Brisbane drug figure alight as he slept in his bed will face court on Monday after spending the weekend in custody.

David Charles Edgerley, 34, has been charged with attempted murder after Victor William Graveson, 65, was doused in in fuel and set alight while he slept at his Alexandra Hills home on Friday morning.

He did not appear as his matter was briefly mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday morning, where the matter was adjourned to Monday morning.

Edgerley did not apply for bail and will remain in custody until Monday's appearance.

Mr Graveson remained in a critical condition at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital on Saturday after suffering head-to-toe burns.

"Victor was lying inside my brother's verandah all burnt, right through. There wasn't a bit of skin left on him," a cousin told AAP on Friday.

Mr Graveson has a lengthy criminal history, having been jailed for 10 years in 1996 for his role in the sale of a cannabis crop worth almost $2 million.

He was jailed again in 2008 for drug possession offences.
