Mackay murder accused faces court

A woman charged with the murder of a man in the Queensland city of Mackay has made a brief appearance in court.

Peta Louise Ansford, 40, has been remanded in custody after facing Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with one count of murder.

Ansford was arrested and charged on Tuesday after a 39-year-old man's body was found at a home in the suburb of Andergrove around 4.30am on Sunday.

Police say Ansford was known to the victim, who has been named by News Corp as Luke Phillip Mitchell.

The matter has been adjourned until July 26.
