Machete attack accused faces Qld court

A Gold Coast man who allegedly attacked another man with a machete over the Easter weekend has faced court.

Jason Romaine, 38, made no application for bail and was remanded in custody after a brief appearance at Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday on several charges including acts intended to maim, assault and wilful damage.

Romaine, whose matter was adjourned until May 3, was charged after the incident that prompted police to close off a section of Surfers Paradise for a brief time about 4am on Sunday.
