Large croc captured in Qld creek

A large crocodile has been removed from a creek north of Townsville after reportedly menacing people at a boat ramp.

Wildlife officers captured the three metre saltie in a floating trap at Althaus Creek, Saunders Beach, and transported to a holding facility on Thursday following concerns from the public.

"It is believed this is the animal that was targeted for removal following recent reports of a large crocodile in the area," the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection's Dr Matt Brien said.
