Infant nearly drowns in Qld backyard pool

An infant has been pulled from a backyard pool in the latest of a spate of near drownings in Cairns.
The young child was taken to Cairns Base Hospital in a stable condition following a short immersion in the pool at Mount Sheridan on Monday night.
Two other children under the age of five nearly drowned in Cairns on the weekend, prompting paramedics to urge parents to always supervise kids around the water.
