'Gunman' arrested after 24 hours on the run in central QLD

A gunman who allegedly fired shots at officers during a prolonged chase in central Queensland has been arrested by police.

Adin Joel Cussen, 29, sparked the pursuit on Wednesday when he allegedly fired at officers during a car chase on the Burnett Highway outside Rockhampton.

Police had been looking for Mr Cussen after he threatened a woman with a firearm on Tuesday afternoon, Detective Inspector Darrin Shadlow said.

Fifteen detectives and several Special Emergency Response Team members were searching for Mr Cussen, who is believed to have sparked a bushfire in the Bouldercombe area, on Thursday.
