Goss family to host public memorial

A public memorial service for former Queensland premier Wayne Goss will be held at Brisbane's Gallery of Modern Art on Friday.

Mr Goss died on November 10.

He was premier from 1989 to 1996, after which he served as Chair of the Queensland Art Gallery Board of Trustees from 1999 to 2008.

His family declined the offer of a state funeral, and will instead host their own public memorial service in line with Mr Goss's wishes.

The memorial service will be held at 2pm at the gallery.

Mr Goss's family said the service would be a public celebration of his life and contributions to Queensland and Australia.
