Boy arrested after GC school threatened

A Gold Coast school has been reopened after it was placed into lockdown when threats were made against students.

Police rushed to Miami State High School after being informed of the threats just before midday.

In a brief statement on Friday police said several threatening text messages were sent to the phones of students at the school.

It's believed they included a threat to shoot some students.

A 13-year-old boy, believed to be a recently expelled student, was arrested about an hour and a half after the threats were received at a property in Surfers Paradise.

Investigations are continuing but the school has lifted its internal security procedures and anxious parents who had gathered outside the school grounds have rushed in to find their children and be fully briefed by the school.
