Gold Coast remains pose questions

Police say it could be some time before they have answers following the discovery of human remains in the Gold Coast's north.

Skeletal remains were found on Saturday morning at a rural property in the suburb of Pimpama.

Initial investigations suggest the remains have been at the property for a while and police are trying to identify a cause of death as well as the identity of the dead person.

In a short statement to media, Queensland police said "forensic processes may take some time" to complete.

Police are also looking at missing person files to help with their investigation.
