She made her seven-year-old daughter a toasted sandwich overnight, only for the girl to approach her in tears shortly after to tell her she found a piece of glass.

The girl was “shaking and crying”, Laura told 9News.

“Glass is not meant to be in bread,” she reportedly said.

Luckily, she had not injured herself, and Laura made sure none of her children ate any more of the bread.

She told 9News the glass appeared to be “pressed” into a slice of bread.

“Tip Top has become aware overnight of an alleged product incident in Queensland and is now investigating the matter,” a spokesperson for owners George Weston Foods said.

“All Tip Top baking facilities have robust food safety and quality assurance processes in place (including sieve controls for all ingredients) to ensure no contaminants are present at the time of dispatch.

“There is strictly no glass permitted in any of our production areas.

“Consumer safety is paramount at Tip Top, and we are taking this incident very seriously. We’re reaching out to the consumer to recover the product so appropriate investigation can be conducted.”

Woolworths said it was also working with Tip Top over the issue.

“Woolworths takes food safety seriously and we are concerned by this customer report,” a Woolworths spokesperson said.

“We are investigating this with Tip Top as a priority but are not aware of any similar reports of this nature.”
