Tributes for Qld corruption watchdog chief

Former Queensland Crime and Corruption chairman Ken Levy has been remembered as a highly respected public servant and an honourable man.

Dr Levy died on Wednesday and was lauded by current CCC chair Alan MacSporran in a statement on Thursday afternoon.

"Dr Levy had a long and distinguished career in the Queensland public sector and the military," he said.

"Dr Levy took a special interest in the operational activities of the (CCC), including a focus on financial investigations which has resulted in the arrest and charging of a number of people for allegedly participating in boiler room frauds."

He was installed as acting chair by the Liberal National Party in 2013 but faced an ethics investigation last year after writing an opinion piece supporting the Newman government's controversial bikie laws.

Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg released a statement on Thursday afternoon passing on condolences to Dr Levy's family and describing him as a "highly respected" public servant.

"Dr Levy was an intelligent, articulate and honourable man," Kawana MP Jarrod Bleijie said in a Facebook post.
