Fisherman found dead after boat capsizes in the Whitsundays

Search and rescue crews have located the body of a missing man after a boat capsized in the Whitsundays in the early hours of this morning.

The 42-year-old man’s body was found by a rescue helicopter and recovered by a volunteer marine vessel.

The boat with three men on-board struck rocks near Nunga Island around 2am causing the vessel to sink.

The other two men were rescued four and a half hours later by crew on-board another boat.

They were taken to Mackay Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.
