Driver hits 182km/h in Qld chopper chase

A man will face court accused of reaching speeds of 182km/h in a car sporting stolen plates as a police helicopter gave chase near Brisbane.

Police say the chopper tracked the driver, 30, to an address at the Ipswich suburb of Riverview, after pursuing the car along the Gateway Motorway, Logan Motorway and Ipswich Motorway on Saturday night.

A 30-year-old man will face the Richlands Magistrates Court on Tuesday on a string of charges, including driving without a licence and driving a vehicle with false number plates.

Tactical Crime Squad officers on Monday also charged the Redbank Plains man with two counts each of stealing and receiving stolen property as well as one count each of possession of a knife and possession of implements used in a burglary.
