Qld drink driver had toddler in front seat

A drink driver busted at more than three times the blood alcohol limit and with an unrestrained toddler in the front seat of his car has been released after spending almost two months in jail.

Wayne Pearson, 43, pleaded guilty to a string of 18 driving, fraud and robbery offences in Southport Magistrates court on Thursday over a six-month spree last year.

The most serious of those related to the high-range drink driving charge, where police claimed a toddler was standing up in the front seat of the car when he was stopped.

The court heard the father of two had suffered from a relationship breakdown last summer, and magistrate Kay Philipson surmised his life had "spiralled out of control".

Along with the driving charges, Mr Pearson admitted to stealing more than $1500 worth of petrol and gas in nine separate robberies as he lived out of his Landcruiser.

He was also twice caught on low-range drink driving in October, when he was also arrested for obstructing police and driving while on a disqualified licence.

He was sentenced to a total of nine months' imprisonment but released on parole after spending 57 days in custody.

He was also disqualified from driving for a further two years.
