Johnny Depp's wife Amber Heard ordered to face trial in April for allegedly smuggling pet dogs into Australia

Johnny Depp's wife will face trial for allegedly smuggling the celebrity couple's pampered pooches into Australia.

The doggy drama returned to the Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday and a four-day trial was set down to begin from April 18.

Amber Heard, the 29-year-old actress wife of Pirates of the Caribbean star Depp, is facing two counts of breaching Australia's quarantine laws by allegedly bringing in Pistol and Boo on a private jet in May.

Heard said in a statement earlier this month that she was looking forward to defending the charges.

"My decision to defend these charges, as will become apparent in the appropriate forum of the court, is not intended to in any way diminish the importance of Australia's laws," the statement said.
