Customers prevent Qld servo explosion
The quick actions of an attendant and customers at a Rockhampton service station have helped to prevent a damaging fire or explosion overnight.
A 39-year-old man will face court on Thursday morning after being arrested for deliberately lighting a fire at a service station, which was extinguished by the attendant and customers.
Police say the man poured fuel from a pump near a bowser late on Wednesday night before lighting the petrol with a cigarette lighter while it flowed out on to the ground.
The fuel supply was cut by the attendant while customers helped put out the fire with an extinguisher and also restrain the man.
He will face Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Thursday on a charge of endangering property by fire.
