Cops suspend Qld search for 'missing' teen

Police have suspended the search for a teenage boy at a Gold Coast swimming hole, claiming there's no evidence to suggest anyone is missing at the site.

The search began on Sunday afternoon after witnesses claimed a boy dived into the water at the Currumbin Rock Pools but failed to surface.

Gold Coast water police returned to the scene at first light on Monday but have suspended their activities.

A police media spokeswoman said conflicting witness reports combined with no physical evidence and a lack of a missing persons report had led to the search being called off.

"No one has come forward to report anyone missing and we're very confident there's no one missing at the site," she told AAP.
