Gas cylinder explodes in Brisbane house fire

Firefighters battled 15m-high flames at a home in Brisbane’s bayside overnight after a gas cylinder exploded, igniting the property.

Three fire crews were called to the Wynnum home shortly after the blaze began around 8pm.

It’s believed neighbours had heard a gas cylinder explode.

Three retirees managed to escape the home.

One man was taken to hospital with chest pain.

Residents were ordered away from the home because of the number of embers falling from the blaze.
