Brisbane bridges go toll free for G20

Road users won't have to pay tolls on two Brisbane bridges during the G20 summit.

Tolls will be waived on the Go Between Bridge, in the CBD, and on the Gateway Bridges, which link the city's north and south, during the summit of world leaders later this month.

Premier Campbell Newman says lifting the tolls will help motorists get into and around the city during the event when public transport services will be reduced.

"Saturday (Nov 15) will see the largest number of motorcade and vehicle movements occur and providing free tolls on these key bridges will help the travelling public get to where they need to go," Mr Newman said.

The toll-free period on the Go Between Bridge applies from Friday, November 14 until midnight on Sunday, November 16.

The Gateway Bridges will be free on Saturday, November 15, from 6am until midnight.
