He was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital and has since been released.

It will be alleged two other students were threatened, but not physically injured.

The 12-year-old girl was taken into custody at the scene.

She was allegedly found by police with a knife and had damaged a wall.

Some parents said they were not notified of the incident until hours later, and when they tried to call their children they couldn't get onto them as their mobiles are locked in pouches during school hours.

"The incident will be dealt with by the school in line with our student code of conduct as appropriate," the school principal said in a statement.

She was denied police bail and is expected to appear at Maroochydore Children's Court tomorrow.
