Body found on Queensland property following standoff that left officer shot
A man has been found dead and a police officer has been shot in the leg after a confrontation on Queensland’s Fraser Coast.
The incident unfolded at 5.45pm on Friday after police responded to a domestic violence matter at a property in Yengarie.

Authorities tried to speak with a man at the Horizon Court home before an officer was shot in the leg.
The 45-year-old man on the property approached the responding officers with a semi-automatic rifle before firing multiple shots.
A 36-year-old first-year constable was rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition after being shot.
Shortly after 9pm, police were able to get inside the property following a standoff, which is when the 45-year-old was found dead inside a shed.
Authorities confirmed that there were two women and two children, who were unharmed, at the property during the ordeal.
It is understood that the man, who was known to police, did not hold a weapons license.
Police Inspector Paul Algie described the incident as “very dangerous and rapidly changing”.
“[It] requires specialist police to provide that higher level of security for general duties officers and also assist us to bring this to a conclusion as quickly as possible,” Algie said.
No other police officers were injured during the alleged shooting.
The shooting will now be investigated by the Ethical Standards Command as is standard practice whenever a police officer is injured.
