Authorities believe they have stopped an international bikie gang from getting a foothold in Queensland with the arrest of the La Familia national president in Brisbane.

Christopher Yeoman was denied bail in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday after he was ruled an unacceptable risk of committing further offences if released.

The 34-year-old was arrested during police raids on his Kelvin Grove home which also uncovered a small drug lab, two stashes of meth, a stolen sawn-off shotgun and war medals.

The shotgun was one of seven firearms stolen from a Jondaryan property in February.

Yeoman, who has an eight-page criminal history, was on bail for drugs, weapons, domestic violence and traffic offences when he was arrested.

Police said they had targeted Yeoman specifically in an effort to halt the spread of the La Familia gang, which had only recently arrived in Australia.

Yeoman is not required to appear when his matter returns to court on June 5.
