Young woman charged after baby dies in country Queensland

A 21-year-old woman has been charged with manslaughter over the death of a seven-month-old baby in country Queensland.

The baby was rushed to hospital after being found unresponsive in the town of Murgon, northwest of Brisbane, about 9.30am on February 5.

She died soon after.

Police said CPR had already begun when emergency services arrived.

The 21-year-old woman was charged with manslaughter today. Police said the woman was "known to" the baby.

The 21-year-old was refused police bail and is due to appear at Kingaroy Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Murgon is a small town north of Kingaroy in the South Burnett Region of Queensland.
