Shot fired in Brisbane antiques store

An antiques store owner was lucky not to be shot by an armed robber as he tried to stop two men stealing jewellery from his business in inner Brisbane.

The robbery occurred on Logan Road in Woolloongabba about 2pm on Friday after the men entered the Harrington and Co store and demanded jewellery from the owner.

Police say the 45-year-old man became involved in a scuffle with one man, during which a shot was discharged from a firearm.

The owner then handed over several pieces of jewellery.

The two men fled the store and later dumped their white Mazda in nearby Lockhart Street.

Police say the men fled with jewellery after firing a shot in the store but no one was injured.

A junior staff member had made a frantic post on Facebook during the hold-up, saying a shotgun was fired after requesting someone call triple-0.
