Man nabbed after Qld street shut down

An armed man who prompted Queensland Police to declare an emergency situation in Ipswich has been arrested trying to jump a fence to escape.

Officers cordoned off the area around Endeavour Street on Tuesday morning following reports an armed man was a making threats at a home there.

Police say they caught a man, 35, as he tried to the flee about two hours after they arrived and he has been taken to hospital for a mental health assessment.
