Kidnap accused faces Qld court

A Gold Coast man accused of kidnapping a woman at gunpoint on Valentine's Day will fight his charges.

Jason Meecham, 38, made a brief appearance at Southport Magistrates Court charged with kidnapping, wilful damage and drug offences.

Meecham is accused of forcing a 26-year-old woman to drive to a Paradise Point address following a fight at Coombabah on Sunday.

The woman was then released unharmed.

During Tuesday's appearance Meecham's lawyer, Erin Ahearn, told the court her client would be contesting the matter.

No bail application has been made and the matter has been adjourned until March 1.
