Accused standover man to find out fate

Judgment is soon to be delivered for an accused Brisbane standover man who allegedly threatened to break the legs of a middle-aged cafe owner over a perceived $50,000 debt.

Omar Succarieh in February stood trial accused of intimidating Vasilios Pippos in a bid to to extort $10,000, while acting as a "standover man" in March 2014, crown barrister Michael Lehane told the Brisbane District Court when he opened the prosecution's case.

The money was allegedly part of a $50,000 debt Mr Pippos was said to owe a man called Yousef Masri following a business dispute involving two fruit shops, and Succarieh is accused of threatening Mr Pippos several times during a 25-minute discussion.

Judge Brian Devereaux on Tuesday told the court he would deliver judgment in the matter on Friday, about a month after the judge-alone trial finished.
