Accused Qld murderer committed to trial

A Queensland woman has been committed to stand trial for allegedly murdering her partner and interfering with his corpse.

Lindy Yvonne Williams, 57, is accused of killing and decapitating George Gerbic in Tanawha on the Sunshine Coast in September 2013.

The charred torso of the 66-year-old was found by the side of a road at Cedar Pocket near Gympie, more than 80 kilometres from where he was allegedly killed.

The accused murderer appeared briefly in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday for her committal to the Supreme Court.

The prosecution tendered 269 statements as part of its evidence.

However, defence barrister Lars Falcongreen told the court his client consented to being committed to stand trial without consideration of the material.

Williams did not enter a plea, but at the end of the proceedings she thanked the magistrate and shook hands with Mr Falcongreen.

She will go to trial at a date to be determined.
