Accused Qld murderer appears in court

A man accused of a stabbing murder in a Brisbane unit is traumatised and grieving the loss of a loved one, his lawyer says.

Thomas Lysgaard, 36, appeared in the Roma Street arrest court on Monday morning charged with murder.

Police were called to a unit in Kennigo Street, Spring Hill, late on Saturday night where the body of a 34-year-old man was found with multiple stab wounds.

Police have confirmed the pair appeared to live together but said they were acquaintances when asked if they were a couple.

Lysgaard was remanded in custody.

Outside court, lawyer Alex Jones told the ABC his client was understandably upset.

"He's quite traumatised by the incident," he said.

"Not only is he extremely upset by the position he finds himself in, but he's also grieving the loss of a loved one."

The matter will return to court on May 11.
