Southeast Qld police target meth on roads

Almost two drivers a day have been testing positive to methamphetamines in southeast Queensland this year, police statistics reveal.

Data obtained by AAP shows that 382 positive tests were returned in the Brisbane and southeast regions between January 1 and July 23 this year.

That averages out to about 1.8 drivers a day being detected with traces of illicit substances such as speed and ice in their system.

The regions in which drivers were caught extend from Dayboro, northwest of Brisbane city, down to Rathdowney, south of Logan.
