Dietary supplement recalled over fears bottle delivering wrong dose

A dietary supplement has been recalled because a fault means the bottles could be delivering the wrong dose.

FIT-BioCeuticals Pty Ltd is recalling two batches of BioCeuticals Zinc Drops, 50ml, due to separation of the zinc from the liquid in the product.

Medical watchdog the Therapeutic Goods Administration said it could result in an inconsistent dose being delivered.

The bottles affected are batches are 004766 and 004807.

The batch number can be found on the side of the bottle, under the directions for use.

Patients using the affected bottles may not get the right dose, which can cause zinc toxicity.

This may cause nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea or headaches.

If left untreated, large amounts of zinc may be dangerous and result in severe health issues, the TGA said.

Taking a lower dose may not provide the intended product benefits.

The affected bottles shouldn't be used and should be returned to where they were bought.

Anybody who has used drops from affected bottles who suffers any of the symptoms should seek immediate medical attention, the TGA said.
