Pollster hires ex-senator Dastyari

Former Labor senator Sam Dastyari has been appointed an associate director of research and campaign firm Essential.

Essential executive director Peter Lewis described Mr Dastyari, who resigned from federal parliament after a scandal over his ties to a Chinese donor, as "one of the finest political campaigners of his generation".

"He will be a real asset to our team working in research, campaign design and execution," Mr Lewis said on Tuesday.
