Dashcam video shows US police car ramming suspect to end crime spree

A police car has torpedoed into an armed man on an Arizona street, in a bid to end a crime spree in which he allegedly stole a rifle.

Three police cars stalked the man, Mario Valencia, down a Tucson street as he shot his rifle into the air, Tucson News Now reported.

Officer Michael Rapiejko sped up and crashed into Valencia, before hitting a concrete wall which smashed his windscreen.

Valencia was taken to hospital in a serious condition and was kept there for two days before being taken into custody.

He is alleged to have stolen a rifle from a Walmart store, which he then used to threaten suicide near a post office.

Police are investigating whether he was involved in the theft of a vehicle, the robbery of a convenience store, a fire at a Baptist temple and a home invasion.
