Police officer accused of Tasering 95-year-old Clare Nowland charged with manslaughter

Suspended NSW Police officer Kristian White has been hit with an additional charge of manslaughter after allegedly Tasering 95-year-old Clare Nowland in a nursing home in Cooma in May.

Police allege the 33-year-old Senior Constable Tasered Nowland after she was asked to drop a steak knife she was holding.

Nowland fell and hit her head, fracturing her skull in the process.

She died in hospital a week later.

White was initially charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

He remains suspended from the force with pay, and has yet to enter a plea.

The case will return to court on Wednesday, December 6.
