Man charged after impersonating police

A man has been charged after allegedly robbing a Sydney supermarket while impersonating a police officer.

Just after 7.30pm last Thursday, two men entered the Fu Qing Ge Supermarket on Beamish Street, Campsie and approached the front counter.

The men allegedly claimed to be members of the NSW Police Force and demanded cash from the shop assistant.

During a physical altercation, the 32-year-old victim received a cut to his face and required treatment at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Following police enquiries, a 21-year-old man was arrested yesterday at a Picnic Point address.

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with robbery in company and conceal serious indictable offence.

He was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear at Burwood Local Court on January 8 next year.

Detectives are still looking for the second man who is described as Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance, 30 to 40-years-old, medium build with short dark hair.

He was wearing a black t-shirt, pants and thongs with a lanyard around his neck and reading glasses tucked into his collar.
