Police hunt for alleged arsonist after furniture store burnt to the ground
Police are hunting for an alleged arsonist after a suspicious fire engulfed a furniture store in the NSW Hunter Region.
The sustainable furniture company on Northcote Road in Kurri Kurri went up in flames at 11.30pm last night.
Fire crews battled the blaze for four hours, which witnesses described as "very intense" as the fire ripped through the plastics inside of the building.

"[We were] laying in bed and we heard a bang ... [then] came to the door and saw the shed on fire across the road," one neighbour said.
"You could even hear the glass shattering across the road."
Locals also said they could smell plastic burning.

The family-owned business, Resourceful Living, takes everyday plastics and turns them into furniture.
Firefighters had to tackle the blaze from above to get it under control.
"We were rapidly able to put exposure protection into place," FRNSW Acting Duty Commander Daniel Agland said.

The fire was extinguished by the morning, but the building was completely destroyed.
Police are now trying to understand why the business was targeted.
