Police car crashes into pole during pursuit in south-west Sydney

Two police officers were involved in a pursuit when their car crashed into a light pole in south-west Sydney. (9NEWS)

Two police officers avoided injury when their car crashed into a pole during a pursuit in south-west Sydney last night.

The fully marked police sedan hit the median strip and then a light pole at the M5 on-ramp at Heathcote Road, Moorebank, about 11.35pm, the NSW Police Force said in a statement.

A male and a female officer who were inside the car at the time were checked by paramedics and cleared to return to duty.

They had been pursuing a motorbike after it had failed to stop, police said.

A police investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
