Tourist attacked by 3.5 metre crocodile at theme park after climbing into pool

A tourist has been bitten by a 3.6 metre crocodile after climbing into the reptile enclosure of a Philippines amusement park for a photo.

Nehemias Chipada was visiting the Amaya View theme park in Cagayan de Oro for his birthday on November 10 when he spotted what he thought was a plastic crocodile inside the Noah's Ark attraction.

Wanting to grab a photo, the 68-year-old climbed into the reptile's enclosure when it lunged at his left arm.

Mr Chipada's family watched in horror as he was pulled into the water, but he managed to break free and ran to safety.

He was treated by one of the park's medical staff before being rushed to hospital.

The 68-year-old was left with fractured bones and wounds to his left arm and thigh.

The crocodile clamped on with so much force a tooth was reportedly left behind.

The park has confirmed they're paying for Mr Chipada's medical expenses.

He's undergone multiple surgeries since the attack.

"He is currently at Northern Mindanao Medical Centre where he has had his operation and is now recovering in a suite room," it wrote in a statement.

"Amaya View remains committed to covering all of his medial bills until he is fully recuperated. We hope and pray for his fast and complete recovery".
