One-year-old boy dies 12 months after alleged assault by dad

A one-year-old Perth boy has died 12 months after an alleged assault when he was six weeks old.

Nathaniel MacRae suffered serious injuries on October 9 last year.

He sustained bleeding on the brain, was left blind and unable to walk or talk.

Nathaniel’s father, 25-year-old Michael Ashley MacRae, was charged with grievous bodily harm at the time of the incident and is currently awaiting trial.

Homicide detectives have now become involved following his death overnight.
