Perth vegan gets death threats after fight with farmer

A Perth animal activist says he's had hundreds of death threats after a run-in with a farmer south-west of Perth.

The incident was filmed sparking outrage, and today the WA Premier Mark McGowan and farming authorities have called for calm.

James Warden, 25, says he was trying to shine a light on what happens to bobby calves on WA farms when he was approached by the farmer in Harvey.

Jason Parravicini has farmed for 25 years and he asked the pair inside the car to leave, and followed them with a tractor before the confrontation turned physical.

The altercation has been reported to police.

Later Mr Parravicini was filmed firing twice into the air, he says it was to scare vermin from his property.

Mr Warden says he's not chasing publicity but wants farming practices improved.

Farming authorities have come out in defence of the Harvey farmer, saying what happens on WA farms is the world's best practice.
