Woman in a critical condition after being hit by train at level crossing in Adelaide

A woman is in a critical condition after she was hit by a train at a level crossing in Adelaide early today.
She was walking at Womma Road near Womma Railway Station, in Elizabeth North, when she was hit by the train about 5.30am.
Paramedics treated her at the scene and took her to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where she remains in a critical but stable condition.

The incident caused public transport delays for several hours, but train services have since returned to normal.
Earlier, replacement buses had been called in between Gawler and Salisbury.
Police are investigating the incident.
