Peris wants inquiry on indigenous funding

Labor senator Nova Peris has called for an inquiry into whether federal funds for indigenous communities are being spent inappropriately.
Senator Peris says there's no accountability on how the Northern Territory government spends federal funds that are earmarked for remote indigenous communities, amid reports the money is instead spent in urban areas.
"Let's do a review, an inquiry, and ensure that money that's given from the Commonwealth to Territory governments reaches the ground to help those Aboriginal people at the very disadvantaged levels," she told ABC Radio on Monday.
