Officeworks issues recall for desk over fears it could collapse on customers

Officeworks has issued a recall for one of its desk over fears it could collapse on customers.

The retailer is recalling the Otto Marstrand Straight Desk – Oak and White – 1500mm, which has an oak-coloured desktop and white panels and was available to buy at Officeworks stores between May 1 and August 15 this year.

It has been removed from shelves over an issue which could lead the desk to collapse and crush users if sideways force is applied to the legs.

This movement could cause the legs to detach from the desk, collapsing it.

The desk and its contents may then result in crushing or pinching injuries, Product Safety Australia said.

Anyone who bought this desk is urged to stop using it immediately and return it to the nearest Officeworks for a full refund.

Customers are also encouraged to disassemble the product before returning it to the store.

"Officeworks apologises for any inconvenience caused," the retailer said in a statement.
