Spoiler alert: Which Game of Thrones character has Barack Obama feeling worried?

A director on popular TV show Game of Thrones has revealed US President Barack Obama is among those fans demanding answers over the fate of a key character from the most recent season.

David Nutter was part of the Game of Thrones panel at the San Diego Comic-Con along with actors including Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth).

But one central question was on the mind of the audience - and Nutter revealed it was one he had also recently been asked by the US Commander-in-Chief.

Nutter told the crowd that during a recent event at the White House, Mr Obama had tapped him on the shoulder and asked, "You didn't kill Jon Snow did you?"

Snow (Kit Harington), one of the show's few unambiguously heroic characters, was last seen dead in the snow in the final scene of the recent fifth season, after he was betrayed and murdered by his brothers-in-arms.

Despite the show’s reputation for killing off central characters, fans have refused to accept Snow's death and have been seizing on hints that the character may still be alive - including the fact that Harington has not cut off his distinctive locks.

However, the show's creators and Harington himself have said Snow will not be returning next season, and Nutter did not mince words at Comic-Con today.

He shared his answer to Mr Obama with the audience - "Mr President, Jon Snow is deader than dead".
