Man killed in Kings Canyon crash

A man has been killed in a single car crash near Kings Canyon in central Australia.

Police say the vehicle was travelling along Luritja Road about 40km south of the canyon at approximately 10.30am on Wednesday when the female driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

A male passenger died at the scene, and the driver and two other male passengers have been transported by medivac to Alice Springs Hospital.

Major Crash Investigation officers are at the scene and one lane is open to traffic.

Police say investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

The NT road toll is now at 26, compared to 23 at the same time last year.
