Murdered mum and daughter buried in Alice

Murdered mother and daughter Karlie Pearce-Stevenson and Khandalyce Pearce have been laid to rest "forever together in the arms of the angels" almost seven years after their tragic deaths.

The funeral in Alice Springs came five years after Karlie's body was found in the Belanglo State Forest in NSW and five months after the remains of her two-year-old daughter were discovered dumped on the side of a highway near Wynarka, east of Adelaide.

"These dark and unforgiving years will never be forgotten," celebrant Meredith Campbell told the service in Alice Springs on Friday.

The ceremony involved family and friends and a wider community of helpers and supporters.

Loved ones tried to find solace in what they said were happier times, remembering Karlie as "cheeky, kind, loyal" and Khandalyce as the "front and centre" of her mum's attention.

"Memories [of] a mother and daughter remain strong and enduring in so many hearts, although grief at their passing is raw and at times overwhelming," South Australian Victims' Rights Commissioner Michael O'Connell said on behalf of the family.

"Karlie and Khandalyce were loved, are loved.

"I'm certain that many throughout Australia pray that mother and daughter will now rest forever together in the arms of the angels."

Ms Pearce-Stevenson was born in Alice Springs in 1988 and gave birth to Khandalyce there in 2006.

She left to travel and work around Australia between 2006 and 2008, and was last seen driving near Coober Pedy with Khandalyce in November 2008.

Daniel Holdom, 41, has been charged with her murder.

No-one has been charged over the death of Khandalyce.
